4th Pannonian Symposium on CNS Injury 26-27 Sept, 2008 Pécs-Hotel Palatinus

Welcome Despite every research effort in this field, central nervous system (CNS) injury of various origins still represents a major challenge to be faced by basic scientists as well as clinicians. The first three Pannonian Symposium on CNS Injury provided an opportunity to share our strategies, discuss recent results and achievements while also gaining inspiration for further projects and collaboration. On the basis of our expectations this 4th Symposium should also serve as an excellent forum to discuss treatment strategies and guidelines in the management of patients suffering from severe head- and spine injury and to debate contemporary problems of neuro-rehabilitation and follow-up. To this end, on the 26th and 27th September internationally recognized experts of the field of CNS-injury research will present and discuss the latest data regarding the pathobiology and experimental as well as clinical therapy of CNS injury of various origins. The Organizers believe that -similarly to our previous events- this symposium will further inspire collaborative efforts in the relevant field of research. Besides the scientific program the participants of the Symposium will hopefully take opportunity to visit the historic sites of Pécs, a city elected to be “The Cultural Capital of Europe - 2010” and boasting with an Early Christian Cemetery Monument listed at the World Cultural Heritage. We hope they will also enjoy the beauty of the Transdanubian region as well as that of the city of Pécs. Prof. John T.
