Szaknyelvoktatás

A bolognai folyamathoz való csatlakozás után kreditkurzusok keretében folyik a szaknyelvoktatás. A korábbi kötelező nyelvoktatással ellentétben a német és angol szaknyelvi kurzusok mindegyike elektív vagy szabadon választható.  A hagyományos értelemben vett nyelvoktatást szakmai-kommunikációs kurzusok váltották fel. Ezek olyan képességek megszerzésére irányulnak, melyek a hivatás gyakorlásának nélkülözhetetlen feltételei.

... A pályázat maradéktalanul megfelel a megadott európai prioritásoknak. A projekt az orvos-beteg kommunikáció színvonalának erősítésével többletértéket tartalmaz nemzeti szinten."

Koh Ishida

Sixth Year Medical School Student

University of Pecs, Medical School

Tokyo, Japan

Dear Dr. Warta,

I am Koh Ishida, a 6th year student currently enrolled in the General Medicine major, University of Pecs, Medical School, and wish to express my warmest appreciation to one your Staff members, Mr. Jon Eugene Marquette, for his thorough support throughout my rotation practice in the NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, USA, which began 21 November up through 18 December, 2022.

He kindly shared his weight of experiences and knowledge providing me with the most relevant lectures in reference to essential aspects, all of which proved necessary for me to start preparing for the traineeship in the USA. Kindly permit me to detail his support, per the following;

First, he offered me personal consultations twice regarding the preparation prior to my departure to New York. Moreover, I was given several lecture notes in reference to vital survival information, such as social mannerisms, personal wardrobe, greeting staff and patients, how to draft my CV, abbreviations often used by doctors (USA) and Spanish for Beginners, etc. In addition to the live consultations, I was continuously supported through emails and phone conversations whenever I needed help or was in trouble once I began my practice in New York.

Secondly, he arranged the Medical School’s authorized dispersal of VIP souvenirs intended for the Coordinator, Weill Cornell Medical College and several doctors at the NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital in a form of “memento” or “appreciation,” on behalf of our Medical School.

I thought this was a superb means for those of us from the Medical School to professionally express our appreciation while maintaining a positive relationship with our partnered university.

Jon kindly coordinated this requirement through the Dean’s Office, in which a Consultant to the International Student and Erasmus Program prepared a package filled with POTE hoodies, t-shirts and other representative souvenirs, which was air mailed to the address in NYC where I stayed.

Lastly, Jon generously offered me useful tips, which soon became life-long lessons regarding professionalism in the workplace.

For instance, the drafting and submission of Weekly Activity Reports (WARs) was new to me, however, thanks to his advice, I have written and edited my WARs on a daily basis, fully prepared to hand into the requesting authority when required.

Inevitably, I was recently asked to submit any reports in reference to my rotation practice from the Director of Education at Presbyterian, so in this regard, I am fully prepared to do so as they are complete.

Additionally, we had to prepare for possible cultural situations involving staff, patients and their family members, which Jon kindly offered me his wise counsel.

Moreover, he was always willing to review my drafts including memos, reports and general correspondence to the hospital, ensuring my English was professionally drafted.

He also supported me in my request for official Letters of Recommendation from the four physicians I shadowed. To do so, Jon first shared his sample drafts, which aided in rapid edits to mine and proved to be an immense time-saver. At the end of my four weeks practice, I kindly requested these letters with little difficulty and no problem whatsoever.

Thanks to all his efforts and dedicated support, I developed a great relationship with all the doctors and Medical Staff, professionally and smoothly.

A preparatory course for those future students at the University of Pecs who are interested in working in a different environment, countries including the USA will most definitely prove beneficial.

I found Jon’s lectures are an international-standard, which means I will apply my “lessons learned” to wherever I soon find employment.

I believe there is a high demand and many students seek help and wish to experience such levels of professional support as I did.

Lastly, I am very appreciative to Mr. Jon Eugene Marquette for his kind help, advice and encouragement, of which, resulted in my successful rotation practice in New York City. I will further build upon my skills sets recently honed though this one-month practice and am grateful for the effort so many extended to my benefit.

Respectfully,

Koh Ishida
