Five colleagues of the Department of Languages for Specific Purposes, Anna Dávidovics, Renáta Halász, dr. Gabriella Hild, dr. Tímea Németh, and dr. Vilmos Warta participated in an international conference on languages for specific purposes in medicine and health organised by the European Association of Language Teachers for Healthcare (EALTHY) at the Castellon de la Plana Universitat Jaume I in Span in October. The colleagues held a presentation and three poster presentations at the conference from the following research fields:

  • Csongor, Alexandra, Nemeth, Timea and Hild, Gabriella: Involving International Medical Teaching Assistant Students in Role Plays
  • Dávidovics, Anna and Németh, Timea: Intercultural Challenges of Teaching Medical Hungarian in a Multicultural Classroom
  • Halasz, Renata, Kranicz, Rita, Sebok, Judit and Hambuch, Aniko: Interdisciplinary Approaches in Teaching Language for Specific Purposes: Structural Patterns of History Taking in German Internal Medicine Textbooks and Guidelines
  • Németh, Timea, Csongor, Alexandra and Hild, Gabriella: Gamification in Medical English and Medical Hungarian Classes

At the end of the conference, the prize for the best poster was handed over to the poster titled Intercultural Challenges of Teaching Medical Hungarian in a Multicultural Classroom by Anna Dávidovics and Tímea Németh. When handing over the prize, the poster's fresh, modern, creative look was highlighted and the Department’s other posters were also appreciated. The colleagues’ presentation was followed by great interest and a professional discussion.

In May 2020, the spring symposium of the EALTHY is going to be held in Pécs organised by the Department of Languages for Specific Purposes. The aim of the symposium next year is to continue the successful exchange of experience, and involve more universities in the cooperation from the surrounding countries.
